February 23 is Spay Day USA
February 23 is Spay Day USA–but it’s not the only day you can have your pet spayed or neutered. Unwanted litters lead to kittens and puppies being dropped off at shopping malls, veterinary clinics, animal shelters, and sadly, by the side of the road. Most of these little guys will die, and not peacefully. Spayed or neutered pets generally live longer and are nicer to have around–less nervous and feisty. They also are not as subject to some forms of cancer and other problems. If you have a pet which has not been spayed or neutered, please call your vet and ask about the surgery–most pets recover very well and go home the next day. Remember, kittens can breed at six months old, puppies at six to 10 months. Don’t wait!
